Dr. Tamara Simon
Born and raised in Boise, Dr. Simon married and had a son, Adam, in 1981. Due to a tragic accident, she became a widow when her son was only 2 years old. She looked to her family to regroup and enrolled at Boise State University. It was there that she met her mentor, Dr. Russell Centanni, who encouraged her to further her education after she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Dr. Simon then attended U.C. Berkeley and earned her Masters in Public Health in infectious Disease Epidemiology while working as an AIDS consultant under Dr. Donald Francis, former director of the Center for Disease Control's AIDS program. During that time Dr. Simon discovered her true passion for helping people and wanted once more to further her education. She applied to Eastern Virginia Medical School where she was accepted and earned her Medical Degree in 1996. She completed her residency at St. Johns Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. As a Public Health Scholar, Dr. Simon served 2 years in Glasgow, Montana, a population of approximately 4000. Being the only OBGYN in a 400 mile circumference, Dr. Simon carried a heavy caseload and valued the hands-on surgical experience needed in a rural community.
Though Dr. Simon loved her patients in Glasgow, she yearned to be closer to her family in Idaho. Dr. Simon was only one of two siblings in a family of eight children who didn't live in Boise. She moved back to Boise in 2003 and her son stayed at the University of Montana in Missoula. Adam recently married and had a son, and he and his wife still live in Missoula.
After opening Rocky Mountain GYN and Hormone Center over four years ago, Dr. Simon decided to expand her field to encompass Smartlipo. In 2007 Dr. Simon received Smartlipo training from one of the leading experts in the nation and has since opened LACI. Dr. Simon is passionate about surgery and has found that she truly enjoys bringing out her artistic touch to give her patients beautiful natural-looking results. Dr. Simon has been treating women of all ages for over a decade and feels that “nobody knows a women’s body better than her gynecologist”.
Dr. Simon is a board certified OBGYN surgeon and is an Associate member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Gynecologists.
Patient Care Coordinator
Candy is our Patient Care Coordinator and Surgical Assistant; she is the main patient contact throughout the process from beginning to end. From consultations and surgeries, to post-op appointments, she is there to answer questions and assist the patient through their journey. Candy attended Smartlipo training with Dr. Simon and has been her assistant from the start. Not only does she specialize in assisting Smartlipo, she is also Dr. Simon’s surgical assistant for her GYN clinic. Candy has also had the opportunity to help assist Dr. Todd Malan, one of the leading Smartlipo experts in the nation. Candy’s all-around knowledge and experience allows her to provide our patients with surgical expertise and genuine care.
Candy attended Stevens-Henager Collage and graduated at the top of her class with an Associates Degree in their Medical Specialties program. She then started working for Dr. Simon as a Medical Assistant and Surgical Tech in 2005. She ran a state of the art laboratory, operated and maintained all equipment and has performed lab work on over 5,000 patients. Along with providing exceptional patient care and counseling, she has trained several other employees in multiple areas throughout both clinics and enjoys patient education.
Candy’s hobbies include riding, training and showing her horses, teaching riding lessons and spending time with her husband, Noah, and their three extraordinary children; Hunter, Daniyelle, and Raimey. Candy is also a Jumping Coach for our local Boise Pony Club, giving young students advanced riding instruction and support. She truly enjoys serving the people around her and finds joy in all the things she does.
